your health is at stake, it pays to educate yourself.
Air
Pollution - who's at risk?
Health Enthusiasts
People with respiratory Ailments
Athletes, Joggers, Runners
Commercial Printers

Copy Machine Users
Many others...
For those at risk, The Eco Badge® is your
first line of defense in the fight against airborne
pollutants.
It is an easy to use personal monitoring device that
measures your exposure to ozone.
OZONE
Ozone is both a blessing and a curse to the
environment. In the upper atmosphere, ozone protects the
planet from the harmful rays of the sun. Unfortunately,
this good ozone is depleting rapidly.
In the lower atmosphere, ozone is a major component of
air pollution or smog. It is created by sunlight acting
upon the hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides emitted by
automobiles, dry cleaners, auto body shops, gas stations,
and literally millions of other sources.
Many industries use ozone. It is an effective
disinfectant in water purification/bottling facilities
and meat packing plants. It is also a harmful by-product
of commercial printing facilities, welding machines,
office copy machines, laser printers and many
more.
MODERN LIFE
If you live near a city, you are probably
breathing ozone every time you walk outside, every time
you drive a car. More than 130 Million people in the
United States live in areas where ozone levels exceed
recommended standards. An estimated 20 to 30 million of
these people are considered ozone-sensitive.
If you work near copy machines, laser printers or in
any of the industries mentioned previously, your risk
increases dramatically. Even if there are monitoring
systems, you may be working in or near "hot spots" where
concentrated levels of ozone accumulate.
Ozone can cause or aggravate respiratory problems:
coughing, wheezing, painful breathing, nasal congestion,
sore throat and nausea. And it compounds risks for
cigarette smokers. When your health is at stake, it pays
to know.
EDUCATE YOURSELF
With the Eco Badge® you'll take two
readings: a one-hour peak exposure and an eight-hour
average exposure, calibrated in ranges of 10 ppb to 350
ppb. It's compact, easy to use, and requires no special
apparatus or chemicals. Wear it proudly. Tell the world
you're concerned, environmentally aware, and leading the
fight against airborne pollutants.
Hopefully, in the process, our products will spark an
increased interest (among students and others) in:
science and technology; and becoming grass roots
political activists and; help make the workplace safer
even in facilities where fixed monitoring systems often
fail to detect "hot spots" where concentrated levels of
ozone can affect one's health.
